The edit model is google/nano-banana-2.1/edit on fal. The prompt puts hair on the chin and the upper lip and tells it to leave the cheeks alone. Vendor rate $0.0336 (Google's 1K list), not a charge you pay directly. We also ask for the rest of the face, the hair on the head, the clothes, and the background to remain. There is no slider for a wider soul patch or a longer point.

See myself with a goatee means checking three regions. The chin pad should have hair, rounded or slightly pointed. The upper lip should too. A missing lip is incomplete. A chin-only patch is a different nickname. The cheeks, including the connector toward the jaw, stay skin. Hair there is the edit walking toward the Beard filter, not a fuller goatee.

Sideburn creep is the same miss from above. A goatee does not join the sideburns. If a thin line of hair runs from the corner of the mouth up the cheek to the ear, the model drew a chin strap and called it done. Reject that file. Do not squint until it looks isolated. The Mustache filter is the other boundary: lip only, no chin. If your result has a lip and a clean chin, it failed in that direction. You wanted both.

Goatees show gaps a full beard would hide. The model prefers a solid pad with a neat outline, as if it were trimmed on day one. If your chin grows slowly, that pad is a later month or a month that never arrives. Bare skin in the source and a dense triangle in the result is the optimistic fill. Use the location. Discount the fill.

The point at the bottom is a common exaggeration. A short natural goatee follows the chin. A long point drops below it and lengthens the face on purpose, which is a style, but it is a style this prompt does not name. When the hair hangs an inch under the jaw like a paintbrush, the edit overshot "chin." Short and attached to the bone is the request. You cannot dial the point back in except by judging the file and trying another photo.

We ask the jaw under the hair to stay the same jaw. A goatee darkens the center and can make a wide chin look narrower, or a small chin look more present. That is contrast, and it is the useful part. A chin that also changes shape, cleft added or corners shaved off, is sculpture. Compare the ears and the nose, which should be boringly identical, before you believe the new chin.

Face the camera with the chin fully in frame. A high collar or a hand under the jaw hides the exact place the hair has to end. Profile shots make the cheek rule harder to audit, because the far cheek disappears. Front or a mild three-quarter, collar down. Head hair stays. This is not a bald pass and not a haircut. Glasses stay. A goatee under round frames is a face some people want to preview specifically, and removing the glasses to "simplify" is a failed hold.
